Artist Research- Emily Blincoe
Emily Blincoe is an photographer from Austin, Texas who currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee and photographs everyday objects that have been arranged into colour, shape or size order. Her work often revolves around natural objects such as vegetables, stones or plants. Her interest in photography began with her brother as he had bought her a film camera and showed her the basics. Her passion grew as she enjoyed documenting where she travelled to and the parties she attended, she then began a 365 days self project and this grew into her style today.

This image is named 'Citrus Fest' and shows citrus fruits that have been cut in half and then organised by colour. I think the dark background brings out the colour of the fruits and the concept fits well with the project title 'Organised Chaos' as the colour and shape of the fruit is completely random but how she photographs them makes them appear quite thought out.

This image is titled 'Matches' and shows matches that have been burnt in a very orderly fashion and then have been organised into a line to create an aesthetically pleasing image. This also fits well into the project's title because fire seems like such an uncontrollable force but here we can see it in a controlled setting.

My First Response
In this image i recreated the look of Emily Blincoe's 'Matches'. I did this by marking out on the matches where i would like to burn them to an then carefully burning them making sure they do not burn too far or bent too much so as to make them look as uniform as possible.
EBI: The lighting in this image is quite yellow so this means the image does not look as clean as it could have. There is also a shadow being casted on some of the matches where they have bent slightly, this again means that the image is not as professional as i would have hoped |
This image is a similar style to Emily Blincoe and an image she did where she organised buttons of different shapes and sizes to create a satisfying result. In my images i included a before picture of all of the buttons in an mess to show more of the process of organisation.
EBI: Similarly to the image of the matches the lighting is quite yellow which means the result suffers. I will try and use photoshop to develop these images and hopefully make them look better.

Artist Research- Paul Seibert
Paul Seibert is a New York based photographer who works now as a wedding and personal photographer for hire. He has always worked in New York and on his website he says "I have lived in New York Metropolitan area area for the majority of my life. I love the energy, the pace, and the unexpected elements... New York, and it's inhabitants are my subjects, and they inspire me on a daily basis.' His aerial shots of New York is what caught my eye for this project, as New York's grid system fits well with the idea of organised chaos as the lively and unpredictable city is fitted into a neat grid.

These are some of Paul Seibert's images that display New York's skyline from an aerial view, they display the city's grid pattern very well which is why it fits the title of 'Organised Chaos' as the streets are full of people but that cannot be seen from this height. I thought this style would be good because we have a school trip to New York where we will visit the One World Observatory Tower where i will hopefully be able to produce some images of this style.
